Good for you to step out of your usual MO and let the husband in to your kitchen abode. We should nudge ourselves in directions we don’t always fancy…it makes us better. My husband cooks a few things and I cringe the way he works…..messy! It’s best for me to go off and find another interest and then return to a fine meal prepared by him. I don’t think anyone can appreciate the work….until they’ve experienced it first hand. Kudos Hetty, your next book may be….How to Cook with your Husband! Lol.
Case in point: I have a Staub stackable set that lives on my stove top: consists of large pot, smaller pot, grill pan, skillet, lid. My husband always insists on digging out this massive stock pot to use when he cooks. God knows why when there is a perfectly good pot already out. For some weird reason, this annoys me 😂
At least I had a good chuckle. I do get it. My husband is slow and methodical in the kitchen. I am wild and free. Sure there are times he says to me, "this dish was tastier the last time you made this." Lol. Who knows what that recipe was? I always wing it! I love food experiments and I don't mind if they fall short sometimes. My palate is pretty accepting of variances and I had fun trying something new. He wouldn't even sub a squeeze of lemon for lime once. Very by the book that man! There's a place for that thinking...but not alongside me in the kitchen.
This is so funny. In response to Heide's comments and Hetty's post, I sent my husband Hetty's comments about her husband not being allowed in the kitchen. My husband is an excellent prep cook. And dish washer + eater of food. 😊
Thank you for sharing your recipe this week, and like you and many others my husband is not allowed in the kitchen, and why he will insist on needing to get to the cutlery drawer when I am in the middle of prepping, or needing to empty the bins when I am in the same process. If he cooked I probably wouldn’t mind so much, as I would say your turn tonight.
Your surprise Sunday dinner looks fantastic! And good to hear how much you enjoyed it. Friday night I made your spanakorizo with jammy eggs recipe from the NYT. It is light and delicious, and my husband loved the jammy eggs. I doubled the recipe so I had tasty leftovers for my Sunday dinner!

LOL it seems there are many husbands banished from the kitchen! Except to do the cleaning 😂

lol I know this feeling. The annoyance is real. Please don’t come near me when I’m cooking 😂
Glad that your husband can actually cook. My husband? He’ll just open up UberEats or DoorDash.
LOL don’t get me wrong, that is more the usual here too
