I also noticed a copycat version of your dumpling and tomato salad in a major publication and thought WHY would we ever attempt to improve upon perfection (and not give credit where credit is due)?! Thanks for a salad we return to again and again, and thanks for being you. <3
Thank you Cyndi. Yes that was a bit upsetting but also doesn’t make sense to copy a recipe that is already so well loved. So happy you’re enjoying the OG!
Hi Hetty, this salad sounds superb. India does a lot of cooked salads or dry vegetable side dishes aka poriyals, sundals. Most of these are lightly stir-fried to retain crunch & seasoned with minimal spices & interesting toppings like grated, fresh coconut.
I have a free subscription to that major publication, and when I got the latest issue and saw the recipe you may be referring to I pointed out to my partner its resemblance to your tomato dumpling salad 😉
Ooh I’m glad you noticed. It was sent to me by a colleague and it was quite shocking to see a major publication so brazenly lift a recipe concept from another major publication (and me!). I understand the idea is “out there” so take the idea and make it your own rather than just copying it. It’s very lazy!
Love the sound of this and I am all for pushing the boundaries of what constitutes a salad (much to the chagrin of my husband who is often confused by what I consider a salad!)
So true! Which also makes me wonder what the boundaries of a salad are - clearly it’s not temperature, ingredients or even whether there is a separate dressing. Maybe anything served with tongs is a salad?! 😂
Delicious! Many of my favourite flavours in that cauli tofu salad! Looking forward to Linger, Hetty, both personally and from a bookseller perspective - your books are always fast movers!

Everything is better as a salad 😂

Thanks so much for your support! I hope everyone loves LINGER 🥰
Extremely confident we all will!
Please come to my house and shake my husband for not liking cilantro. Thank you!!! Also, this looks great. ❤️❤️
Haha it’s actually quite common! I hear anti cilantro sentiment a lot.
I knowwww but I had to marry him! Luckily he’s pretty wonderful. But the cilantro issue is pretty sad.
Hahahaha I’m glad he makes up for it in other ways LOL we will forgive his cilantro transgression
