Hi! Is it possible that the measurements for the rice flour and brown sugar were mistakenly swapped? Your pumpkin nian gao in the book calls for 2c rice flour and 1c brown sugar, and this recipe calls for 1c rice flour and 2c brown sugar. Just wanted to check! Thank you!!

I've never made nian gao, but this did not bake up the way Hetty's did on Instagram or in the Substack photos. I just read the comment before mine about the possible swapping of rice and sugar quantities as compared to the original recipe in Linger. I now see on this carrot variation that "200g" of sugar = "2 cups", but the rice flour that is also "200g" is written as "1 c" so that might be where the typo is. I was following the cups measurements, so I did make this with only 1 cup of flour and we did get a puddling like consistency, but we happily ate it anyway - flavors are delicious!!!
